All cabinets now live - South of the river, Stibbington, Sutton, Thornhaugh etc

Apparently some duct clearing was required, but the checker now offers Superfast services from cabinet 4 to a Stibbington number and one at the Wansford end of Elton Road :-

Further up the A1 the Thornhaugh area is now live from the small cabinet in the southbound bus layby:

Across the A1 the duct problems along the A47 have also been resolved and properties in Sutton served by Cabinet 7 can now order Superfast broadband from their providers and get a particularly impressive speed increase :-

So as far as I can tell we now have all the cabinets up and running and custiomers connected and getting useful speed improvements. The Connecting Cambridgeshire cabinet map hasn't quite caught up at the time of writing hence I validated the cabinets against connected lines using BT's checker and posted the screenshots above - for avoidance of doubt and other FUD that tends to surround broadband.

  1. hmm, stibby cafe, reports cab4 and FTTC available although pretty poor speeds, <20mb, but all the nene valley railways numbers report no FTTC available! Sibson House hotel reports 17mb on ADSL!

    1. 01780 784444 says no data for the line on the BT checker, not no FTTC. The Sibson one is indeed odd - looks like a case of no line data as all the speeds are maxima and yet no FTTC at all. Weird.

    2. 784444 is ISDN2e so it won't, but 784440 and 782854 show no FTTC

    1. Just up the A1 from the Sibson Inn up to 2.5M ADSL is offered, but no FTTC, at https://www.yell.com/biz/arrow-management-and-marketing-ltd-peterborough-7254384/ Perhaps FTTC isn't offered on the longer lines from the cabinet where expected speed would be <5M ?

  3. the cut off is 1.5km, which means anything past the stibbington diner is pretty much screwed! not helped with those 1940's cables down the side of the A1 that feed stibbington!

    1. Some Nassington lines get FTTC estimates at over 2km so perhaps it is line quality coming into play.

  4. Have to say I am pretty disappointed in BT's provision in Wansford. They did a spoiler and promised a lot when Gigaclear were at over 20%. Then what do we get. Well I can onley get 40-45m in Robins Field. I am sure we were promised much more by teh BT rep who came to the Parish Council. Not impressed.

  5. PhilT do you have any thoughts oin teh slow speeds in Wansford?

  6. Slow ? Sounds like the "Superfast" speeds BT and Connecting Cambs promised. 45M seems to fit the guesstimator number for the location - must be 600m or more ?

Gigaclear are on the opposite side of my street in Yarwell and in Nassington there are properties with connection pots who are denied service, so it's conceivable you got more via BT than Gigaclear would have actually delivered in practice.
